Learn how to upgrade your YAPL subscription to a higher tier.

Upgrading Plan

Upgrade your subscription to unlock more features, increase project limits, or add team capacity.

When to Upgrade

From Trial

Upgrade when:

  • Trial is ending and you want to continue
  • Ready to commit to a paid plan
  • Need to invite team members

From Basic to Professional

Upgrade when:

  • Need more than 3 team members
  • Have more than 5 active projects
  • Require cost tracking features
  • Need Gantt chart editing
  • Want resource groups
  • Need export/import capabilities

How to Upgrade

Step 1: Access Subscription Settings

  1. Navigate to Settings in sidebar
  2. Select Subscription tab
  3. View your current plan

Step 2: Choose New Plan

  1. Click Change Plan or Upgrade
  2. Review available plans
  3. Select desired tier
  4. Review feature changes

Step 3: Complete Checkout

  1. Review pricing summary
  2. Enter payment information (if first time)
  3. Confirm purchase
  4. New features available immediately

Trial → Basic

Upgrading from Trial to Basic reduces some features. Consider Professional if you need full capabilities.

Immediate Effects

Features Unlocked

Upgrading immediately provides:

  • New feature access
  • Increased limits
  • More seats (if applicable)

Billing Changes

  • First charge: Prorated for remaining billing period
  • Future charges: Full monthly amount
  • Automatic renewal continues

How Proration Works

When upgrading mid-cycle:

  1. Credit calculated for unused time on current plan
  2. New plan charged from upgrade date
  3. Next billing date unchanged

Example

  • Subscribed Basic on January 1
  • Upgrade to Professional on January 15
  • Charged prorated difference for Jan 15-31
  • Full Professional charge on February 1

Data and Content

What Happens to Your Data

All data is preserved:

  • Projects remain intact
  • Plans and tasks unchanged
  • Team members retained
  • Settings preserved

Feature Access

Previously unavailable features become accessible:

  • Cost tracking activates
  • Gantt editing enabled
  • Resource groups available
  • Export/import unlocked

Upgrading During Trial

Before Trial Ends

Recommended approach:

  1. Evaluate features during trial
  2. Upgrade before expiration
  3. No service interruption

After Trial Ends

If trial expired:

  1. Workspace in read-only mode
  2. Navigate to subscription settings
  3. Choose a paid plan
  4. Full access restored

Who Can Upgrade

Only workspace owners can change subscriptions:

  • View upgrade options
  • Complete checkout
  • Manage payment

Team members see read-only billing status.

Payment Information

First Upgrade

If upgrading for first time:

  1. Enter credit card details
  2. Provide billing address
  3. Card saved for future billing

Returning Customers

If payment method on file:

  1. Review saved payment method
  2. Or update to new card
  3. Confirm purchase

  • Discover

After Upgrading

Verify Upgrade

  1. Check subscription shows new tier
  2. Verify new features are accessible
  3. Confirm increased limits apply

Next Steps

  1. Invite additional team members (if seats increased)
  2. Create additional projects (if limits increased)
  3. Explore new features

Troubleshooting

Upgrade Not Processing

Payment declined

  • Verify card details
  • Check available funds
  • Try different card
  • Contact bank

Error during checkout

  • Refresh and retry
  • Clear browser cache
  • Try different browser
  • Contact support

Features Not Available After Upgrade

  • Refresh the page
  • Log out and back in
  • Verify upgrade completed
  • Check subscription status

Charged Incorrectly

  • Review invoice details
  • Check proration calculation
  • Contact support for billing issues

Downgrading

To move to a lower tier:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Subscription
  2. Click Change Plan
  3. Select lower tier
  4. Review impact on current usage
  5. Confirm downgrade

Downgrading may disable features and reduce limits. Ensure your usage fits the new tier.
