Notifications

Configure email and push notifications for YAPL activity and updates.

Notifications

Notifications keep you informed about important activity in your workspaces. YAPL provides simple notification controls to help you stay updated without being overwhelmed.

Accessing Notification Settings

  1. Click Settings in the sidebar navigation
  2. Select Preferences tab
  3. Find the Notifications section

Available Notification Controls

YAPL currently offers two notification toggles:

SettingDescription
Email NotificationsReceive activity updates via email
Push NotificationsReceive browser push alerts

Email Notifications

Enabling Email Notifications

  1. Go to Settings > Preferences
  2. Find Email Notifications
  3. Toggle the switch to enable or disable

When enabled, you'll receive email notifications for important workspace activity including:

  • Task assignments and updates
  • Project changes
  • Team activity
  • Security alerts

Security-related notifications (password changes, new device logins) are always sent regardless of this setting.

Email Delivery

  • Emails are sent to your registered email address
  • Check your spam folder if emails aren't arriving
  • Add YAPL to your safe senders list for reliable delivery

Push Notifications

Enabling Push Notifications

  1. Go to Settings > Preferences
  2. Find Push Notifications
  3. Toggle the switch to enable
  4. When prompted, allow browser notifications

Browser Permission

When you enable push notifications for the first time:

  1. Your browser will request permission
  2. Click Allow to enable push notifications
  3. Notifications will appear in your system notification area

Managing Browser Permissions

If you previously denied permission or want to change settings:

Chrome:

  1. Click the lock icon in the address bar
  2. Find Notifications setting
  3. Change to Allow

Firefox:

  1. Click the lock icon in the address bar
  2. Find Permissions section
  3. Enable Notifications

Safari:

  1. Go to Safari > Preferences
  2. Select Websites > Notifications
  3. Allow for YAPL

Push notifications require a modern browser and may not work in all environments. If push notifications aren't available, rely on email notifications instead.

Notification Types

When notifications are enabled, you'll be notified about:

Activity TypeDescription
Task AssignmentsWhen tasks are assigned to you
MentionsWhen someone @mentions you
Project UpdatesChanges to your projects
Team ChangesTeam membership updates
Security AlertsAccount security events

Best Practices

Staying Informed

  • Keep at least one notification channel enabled
  • Check email notifications if you work across multiple devices
  • Enable push notifications for real-time awareness

Reducing Noise

  • If receiving too many notifications, consider disabling one channel
  • Review notifications periodically to stay current
  • Use email for a record of activity
