# Preferences

Preferences control how YAPL looks and behaves for you personally. These settings apply across all your workspaces and help you customize your experience.

## Accessing Preferences

1. Click **Settings** in the sidebar navigation
2. Select **Preferences** tab
3. View and modify your preferences

## Display Settings

### Language

Choose your preferred interface language.

| Option  | Language          |
| ------- | ----------------- |
| English | English (default) |
| Turkish | Turkce            |

**Changing Language:**

1. Go to **Settings > Preferences**
2. Find **Language** setting
3. Select your preferred language
4. Interface updates immediately

  Language preference affects the interface only. Content created by users (project names,
  descriptions) remains in the original language.

### Theme

Choose your visual theme preference.

| Option | Description                  |
| ------ | ---------------------------- |
| Light  | Bright background, dark text |
| Dark   | Dark background, light text  |
| System | Follows your device setting  |

**Setting Theme:**

1. Go to **Settings > Preferences**
2. Find **Theme** setting
3. Select your preference
4. Theme applies immediately

**Theme Benefits:**

| Theme  | Best For                            |
| ------ | ----------------------------------- |
| Light  | Well-lit environments, daytime      |
| Dark   | Low light, reduced eye strain       |
| System | Automatic switching based on device |

## Regional Settings

### Date Format

Configure how dates appear throughout YAPL.

| Format     | Example    |
| ---------- | ---------- |
| MM/DD/YYYY | 12/31/2025 |
| DD/MM/YYYY | 31/12/2025 |
| YYYY-MM-DD | 2025-12-31 |

### Time Format

Choose your preferred time display.

| Format  | Example |
| ------- | ------- |
| 12-hour | 2:30 PM |
| 24-hour | 14:30   |

### First Day of Week

Set which day starts your week in calendar views.

| Option | Description           |
| ------ | --------------------- |
| Sunday | Week starts on Sunday |
| Monday | Week starts on Monday |

### Number Format

Configure number display for costs and quantities.

| Format       | Example  |
| ------------ | -------- |
| US Format    | 1,000.00 |
| EU Format    | 1.000,00 |
| Space Format | 1 000.00 |

These settings affect:

- Project timelines
- Task due dates
- Activity timestamps
- Calendar views
- Cost displays

## Notification Preferences

Configure how you receive notifications in the Preferences section.

| Setting             | Description                                      |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------------------ |
| Email Notifications | Toggle to receive or disable email updates       |
| Push Notifications  | Toggle to receive or disable browser push alerts |

## Saving Preferences

### Automatic Save

Most preferences save automatically when changed. You'll see a brief confirmation when changes are saved.

### Sync Across Devices

Preferences sync to your account and apply on:

- All browsers
- All devices
- New sessions

## Best Practices

### Personalization

- Set language to your native language
- Choose theme based on your work environment
- Set date format to match your regional conventions

### Consistency

- Use the same settings across work devices
- Align date format with team conventions
- Match regional settings to your locale

## Troubleshooting

### Preferences Not Saving

- Check internet connection
- Refresh the page
- Try a different browser
- Clear browser cache

### Theme Not Applying

- Refresh the page
- Check for browser extensions that may override styles
- Verify system theme (if using System option)
- Try a different theme option

### Language Not Changing

- Refresh the page
- Clear browser cache
- Log out and back in
- Check browser language settings
